Chris Turnbull

M.Eng.Sc., B.E. (Mech) (Hons) MAAS

Chris Turnbull is the Principal Acoustic Engineer and founder of Sonus. Chris formed Sonus in March 2002, having worked at Bassett Acoustics for seven years where he was an Associate and State Manager. This followed 5 years as an Acoustic Engineer with the Maritime Operations Division of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO).

Chris has achieved a highly regarded reputation across all sectors in his 20 years experience in acoustics, which has included experience with power station developments, renewable energy projects, mining and major infrastructure through to local commercial, industrial and residential planning.

Chris has developed Sonus into a major acoustic consultancy with project experience across Australia and high levels of expertise in a variety of sectors.

Jason Turner

B.E. (Mech) (Hons) MAAS

Jason Turner joined Sonus as an Associate in 2006. Prior to this he spent 6 years with the South Australian Environment Protection Authority (EPA) during which time he drafted the State's Noise Policy (Environment Protection (Noise) Policy 2007). At the EPA he managed the Atmosphere and Noise Branch as well as acting as the EPA's Principal Adviser in the field of Noise and Vehicle Emissions. This public sector experience is supplemented by 5 years experience as a Senior Acoustic Engineer at Bassett Acoustics and 5 years experience at Bestec Pty Ltd as a Mechanical Services Engineer.

His professional interests have included a 2 year period as Chair of the South Australian Division of the Australian Acoustical Society as well as representing the National Environment Protection Council on the Australian Standard Technical Committee EV-016, responsible for the development of an Australian Standard relating to the assessment and measurement of wind farm noise.

Jason provides a unique blend of public and private sector experience and expertise.

Matthew Dewhirst

B.E. (Mech) (Hons)

Matthew Dewhirst is an Acoustic Engineer with Sonus Pty Ltd. Matthew is involved in all aspects of acoustic engineering including architectural acoustics, environmental and occupational noise assessments, noise and vibration control.

Matthew has been with Sonus since graduating with First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Adelaide in December 2002.

Matthew has conducted acoustic assessments for many major projects including wind farms, power stations, university buildings and multi-storey apartment buildings.

Mathew Ward

B.E. (Mech) (Hons)

Mathew joined Sonus in February 2008 after graduating from the University of Adelaide with an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. At Sonus, Mathew has been involved in the assessment of several major environmental noise and building acoustics projects.

Moharis Kamis

B.E. (Mech) (Hons) B.Ma&Comp.Sc

Moharis graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2008 with a degree in Mathematical and Computer Sciences and a First Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Ben Neaylon

B.E. (Mech) (Hons)

Ben Joined Sonus in 2009 having studied at the University of Adelaide with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Ashley Shepherd

B.Ec., B.E. (Mech) (Hons)

Ashley graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2009 with a double degree in Economics and Mechanical Engineering.
